Hula Hooping for Youth Groups

Rise Hoop Dance is passionate about encouraging children to get active and be the best they can be. Creative hula hooping workshops and after-school programs combine hooping with circus tricks, movement, dance and music to create a playful platform for children to explore self-expression and personal growth. So let's rise up and hula hoop dance together!

Debbie is a certified Hoop Love Coach with DBS clearance, Public Liability Insurance and Paediatric First Aid training. Debbie has over 16 years experience working in education and is a trained Thrive Practitioner. Discover more about Debbie here.

Why hula hooping?

Debbie's hula hooping workshops and after-school sessions are full of energising, active and structured fun. Unique and accessible hoop-based activities encourage children of all ages (from 5 to 18) to get fit and explore their own development. This is done in a friendly, non-judgemental and non-competitive environment in which we celebrate personal and group achievements.

Hula hooping workshops can link in with many areas of growing up including friendship, developing interests, improving mental health & emotional well-being, and participating in a healthy lifestyle. Previously I have hula hooped with Brownies, Beavers, Young Carers, after-school clubs, Tockington Harvest Fayre and many other groups and events.

What can I expect?

Debbie's fully planned hooping workshops are energising, active and structured. They encourage children of all ages (from 5 to 18) to get active and explore their own development. This is done in a friendly, non-judgemental and non-competitive environment in which we celebrate personal and group achievements.

Typically a workshop will last between 30 minutes and 1 hour. In that time we will:

*Play interactive hula hoop-based warm-up games

*Engage in exciting and interactive hula hoop lessons (hooping on the waist, arms,   hands,          neck and other body parts!)

*Combine hooping skills with fun hoop circus tricks

*Develop physical, social and emotional well-being through hoop-based challenges and team         games

*Put together a sequence of hula hoop moves to create a hoop dance routine

*Explore individual hooping styles through freestyle hooping time

*Play interactive hoop-based cool-down games

During regular hula hoop programs hoopers extend their hooping skills each week and work together to choreograph a fantastic hoop dance that can be shared at school and community events. Debbie has taken hoop dance groups to the Stages dance festival at Colston Hall for the last 3 years.

Who can hula hoop?

Anyone can hula hoop! Hooping has a quick success rate making it is perfect for children of all ages (5 -18 years) and abilities. All you need is a good quality hula hoop that is the correct size and a nurturing and inclusive hoop teacher.

Debbie has worked (and hula hooped) with a wide range of children and young people including young carers, Looked after Children, refugee children and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Even big kids can hula hoop! Staff and volunteers are encouraged to get involved. Rise Hoop Dance also offers well-being workshops for adults and organisations.

Typically a workshop can cater for a maximum of 30 children and lasts between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
