Hula Hooping Workshops for Schools

Rise Hoop Dance is passionate about encouraging children to get active and be the best they can be. Creative hula hooping workshops and after-school programs combine hooping with circus tricks, dance and music to create a playful platform for children to explore self-expression and personal growth. So let's rise up and hula hoop together!

Debbie is a certified Hoop Love Coach with DBS clearance, Public Liability Insurance and Paediatric First Aid training. Debbie has over 16 years experience working in education and is a trained Thrive Practitioner. Discover more about Debbie here.

Why hula hooping?

Debbie's hula hooping workshops are full of energising, active and structured fun. Unique and accessible hoop-based activities encourage children of all ages (from 5 to 18) to get fit and explore their own development. Sessions are set in a friendly, non-judgemental and non-competitive environment in which we celebrate personal and class achievements.

Workshops can link in with many areas of school life including PE, dance, PSHE, citizenship and enrichment. Previous schools have used hula hooping workshops to promote Healthy Schools Week, Sports Week and Good to Be Green initiatives.

What can I expect?

Debbie's fully planned workshops are energising, active and tailored to the needs of the group. Children of all ages (from 5 to 18) are encouraged to get active and explore their own development. This is done in a friendly, non-judgemental and non-competitive environment in which we celebrate personal and class achievements.

Typically a class workshop will last between 30 minutes and 1 hour. In that time we will:

*Play interactive hula hoop-based warm-up games

*Engage in exciting and interactive hula hoop lessons (hooping on the waist, arms,   hands,          neck and other body parts!)

*Combine hooping skills with fun hoop circus tricks

*Develop physical, social and emotional well-being through hoop-based challenges and team         games

*Put together a sequence of hula hoop moves to create a hoop dance routine

*Explore individual hooping styles through freestyle hooping time

*Play interactive hoop-based cool-down games

During regular after-school programs hoopers extend their hooping skills each week and work together to choreograph a fantastic hoop dance that can be shared at school and community events. Debbie has taken hoop dance groups to the Stages dance festival at Colston Hall for the last 3 years.
